She's Baaaaaaaaaack!!

Missed me??

What a month it has been.

When we last saw our heroine, she was nursing her pulled hamstring back to health...

Just when I got the go ahead to start running again, I noticed that I wasn't feeling so well. Stuffy head, awful headache, runny nose, and so forth. The sports doc actually recommended that I skip the long Saturday run if I wasn't feeling better.

That was a MONTH ago!!

It turns out that I had a very, very bad case of bronchitis. I dragged myself to the doctor, who immediately ordered me to bed for a week. I, being me, immediately returned to work. Well, just for an hour so that I could tie up loose ends.

A week off from work I thought was sufficient. So imagine my surprise when after about 45 minutes into my first day back at work, I actually thought that my head was going to explode due to the sinus pressure. [Did I mention that I had a sinus infection on top of it all??]

We are in the 21st century. So I emailed my doctor who responded that I was a very impatient patient. She told me that one week of part-time days would allow me to continue to recuperate. If not, I would probably end up in the hospital with pneumonia.

So I worked a part-time week...and that left me totally wasted when I got home. Luckily, we live in very close proximity to my parents. They helped with the schlepping as well as letting me just crash at their place so that I didn't have to make the long drive home.

And last week was my first full time week back at work...and that left me zonked too.

The cough is gone (mostly)and the only indication that anything was amiss is the residual fatigue.

And flabby muscles...

Having not run for all this time has left me dazed and out-of-shape. My tortoise girls ran 18 miles on Saturday -- they are sooooooo awesome!!! And I have run nothing.

I will start again this week. I am scared. I am nervous. Unlike when I first started training, I now know into what I am getting. I know that it is going to hurt as I regain my mileage base. I know how fiercely difficult it will be for me with just about 7 weeks remaining before the big day.
